gm2blog returns!

Wednesday 10 October 2007 at 10:51 pm Ok, so sphpblog totally died (again). Searching for an alternative found Pivot. Why do I suddenly like this better?

- Theme styles are simpler. Which is quite nice.
- It seems to have a fair few more features. While sphpblog is simple and effective, Pivot has a lot of things to fiddle with :P
- Despite being way more complicated, it's faster. And every bit of speed counts on a 333mhz server. Know why? It generates static pages and serves them to the clients instead of serving on demand.
- It supports a wide range of plugins.

Todo still:
- Post all old entries again (hopefully the one that keeps causing sphpblog to die doesn't have the same effect here). There was a fair bit of content, resulting in a fair few hits from web searches...
- Configure things further and get this one closer to the look of the old one (or nicer, either way, but not that the original wasn't).

Well, here's to gm2blog v2.0!

In other news, I finally got a charger for those two 12v 7AH SLA batteries that have been on my desk for ages. I'm in the process of building up power connectors for them.

And GPSTool is getting waypoint functionality.

Later edit: Lack of linebreaks by using the rich text editor. I don't want to know what happens when I try to post from my palm or phone...
