What am I going to work on now?
- Kismet drone support (when the R100s get here...)
- NetStumbler Binary import (might have a go at that...)
Also, coding a custom WRAP firmware may happen. May? If I end up getting a WRAP, it will.
Oh, and I'm planning a huge release of code. Expect some stuff to be released soon, some of which may be interesting. Yeah, you might get to see what the code up the top in the title actually does (and yeah, it does something cool :) )

OK, there's been a little delay here. Back from Japan, and very busy.
Update on KisMac:
The memory errors are fixed. Shouldn't crash so much now.
MIDI signal strength - a patch has been put in to make it work right, should be committed soon.
That over with...
Some may wonder why I don't (generally) write this blog about my life. The answer is that... well... I don't think anyone is actually interested in what goes on in my life... unless there IS something interesting happening. However, what I do in terms of technology is probably more interesting (to anyone who'd be reading this, anyway.).
Oh, and I've got, in addition to the other wireless gear, two Mitsubishi R100s coming in. These things are basically a rebranded Asus WL-500g. Basically, it's a WRT54GL with a mini-PCI wireless card (not intergrated), with USB, and with a parallel port. Should be fun to make it a kismet drone, and then code support for such as a capturesource in KisMac. Yep, it's going to be fun. Even more so when I take out the crappy Broadcom wifi inside the thing, and put something decent in it. A CM9 card maybe?
As for the USB port, that could lead to some fun - USB GPS perhaps? Throw that in, run gpsd on it, and run kismet on it. Everything you need, right there! LCD on the parallel port, and that could be even better!
We'll have to see how much of this is actually possible. In theory, there's nothing stopping any of this... but... that's only theory.

Luggage tag placed on side of bag.
Gets caught on something, and unzips the laptop compartment.
Side-facing zip ensures that it plummets front-right-hand corner first to a marble floor.
Corner is now completely destroyed (looks like a car crash).
Battery still seems to work OK, though. And after un-bending the airport card, and re-plugging in the antenna, it too seems to work.
Hopefully, the travel insurance will cover it this time... as it happened while travelling.
I'm posting this from the machine now, using the airport card... so the damage can't be all that great... but it's there somewhat. And the corner is sharp. And the battery is almost impossible to remove and insert.

Free wifi, it seems.
I also see an ad-hoc network named "Holiday Inn"... sounds screwy to me....
Well, anyway, only 6 more hours to Japan.
