$560 of wireless gear ordered for a project. All will be revealed soon.
And now I'm off to a 12-day trip to Japan. I might post while there.

Well, I got an email from a certain
edwinwilder@hotmail.com presumably regarding MS History 2005.
Subject: you
Rot in hell, moron
Now, normally, such stupidity would probably find a way to my "Trash" or my "Spam" folder. But seeing as it was already in the spam folder, and I feel like totally confusing the hell out of someone today... I decided to give him a reply.
[blockquote>Well, after finding this in my "Spam" folder (correctly identified):
Apparently, I will rot in hell because you say so. Which would imply that you think you have some sort of power to decide my fate. You have no understanding of how the world works, do you?
I notice a few things about you. First of all, you seem to be a Comcast user. Which shows you have no taste in ISPs. Or is it just the state of ISPs in the US.
I also notice that you have a hotmail address. This would generally imply that you have some kind of like for Microsoft. Which may be why you are flaming me, I can't be sure.
You also must find typing difficult as your subject line consisted of one word (and a poorly chosen one at that), and four words in the body. Surely a more lengthy flame would go further.
You didn't go to the trouble of registering a fake address (at least I presume not) to flame me, which takes you down a few levels.
You also used no four-letter words in the email. I expected better.
I also doubt you will even read this far into the email. Still. It was worth a try.[/blockquote>

OK, I promised to release ConfReg at some stage. I'll get around to it, I promise!
I've been busy with another app - DataUsage.
It displays the current interfaces on the Palm, and how much data has been transferred through them as well as their IP addresses.
I created this so I know how much that 3G session just cost me.
Download it from
here.

Most Palm apps are pretty good. But there are just a few out there that are not just good, they're awesome. You'll see what I mean.
Google Maps for Palm
Available here - freeware
This app came out not so long ago. It's awesome. It's designed for a Treo, but works on any recent Palm with an internet connection (my TX for one). Unfortunately, it doesn't support 320x480, only 320x320. Still, it's an awesome app nonetheless, and we may see 320x480 at some point in the future.
You can also see the images:
Flash Player for Palm OS
Download it here - freeware
This is only supposed to run on Sony Clie units. But a talented programmer called Dmitry Grinberg reverse-engineered it and modified it to run on most OS 5 Palms. Works on my old Tungsten E and TX.
The downside - it's only Flash 5 compliant, nothing newer than that will work properly. It also won't do 320x480 and messes up if you rotate the screen, because it wasn't designed to run on the TX.
The Core Pocket Media Player (TCPMP)
Get it here - GPL
Awesome video and audio player. Plays almost everything you throw at it, and it's free!
There's an even better commercial version coming out on the 18th.
Resco Explorer
Get it here - shareware
This app is really cool. It's not a case of what it does, it's more what it doesn't do!
It's a:
Text Editor
Image viewer
Zip/Unzip program
Tweaking Utility
File manager
Resource Editor
Application Launcher
and much more.
It's really good because you can download a program from within Blazer as a zip file, unzip and install it from on the Palm!
Chatopus
Get it here - shareware
A Jabber client for the Palm. It's capable of running in the background if the jabber account is not using SSL.
I use this to login to my Jabber server using my Motorola v3x as a modem. 3G net access + Jabber = :D
NetChaser
Get it here - shareware
A simple network stumbler for Palm. Capable of exporting to CSV, and capable of driving a Bluetooth or Serial GPS.
I wish it was passive mode though :)
Opera Mini
Get it here - freeware
I have 4 web browsers on my Palm. Blazer, NetFront, AvantGo and Opera Mini. Why is Opera Mini good? It uses a proxy server. The page is scaled down before it is sent to Opera Mini. This means that less data is transferred - good for browsing over 3G (as it's costing me 0.4c/kb). Blazer is a lot faster, but uses a lot of data - same as that of a desktop browser.
Pocket Tunes
Get it here - shareware
The Basic version is actually included on the Palm TX when you buy it. It's a great MP3 player (but it's not limited to MP3s. It plays WAV, OGG and WMA if you're so inclined...).
The nicest feature is the background playback - you can keep playing tunes in other apps. You can bring up the console and change tracks/volume etc by either pressing the hard button or doing the shortcut you assigned.
It can also listen to streaming radio too!
Only thing it can't do is play AAC (TCPMP can though, and so I could use that, but TCPMP has no background playback as it's primarily a video player.)
Garux
This is much more than a single application. It's a Linux bootloader, and so you can load up Linux on the palm!
I've posted a howto before - you can look for it if you're interested.
Oh, and by the way - the GPS controller stuff got committed. r206 of KisMac.
